I guess I should pipe up here...

Hello! I'm Vermis, real name Warren. I'm in south Tyrone, which in my experience is pretty dead in terms of tabletop gaming. I haven't played Blood Bowl much, or recently, but I've had a few games at a friend's house in Bangor. I liked it a lot, though I got smashed into the cardboard turf most games.
I have a human Nipponese team, which still needs to be fully converted from Perry Samurai and Ashigaru (throwers and linemen), as well as a few ninja (catchers) and sumo (blitzers) from Hasslefree and EM4. I'm still thinking about converting an 'oni' ogre, or sculpting it from scratch.

I have a feeling I'll be spending most of my time in the modelling logs board, here.

Vermis, you know there's a small club that meets in Omagh the first Saturday of every month? (at least there was when I was last back home). I also know a couple of lads in Newtonstewart who are keen into their specialist games, BB included. In my experience there are more gamers about Ni than folk think it's just that it's luck of the draw hearing about them! (hopefully this site will help with that)

Shocked

First Saturday in March... Duce, you should have started this forum a week earlier. I blame you for everything...

Ta for the heads-up though, CB. Smile Do they have a site or something, anywhere? What do they play?

I used to have a site for them, not sure if it's updated/who runs it. Can't find it on google again (I knew I got it up a few months back for someone).

Ah, got it:

As to what is played. 40k and Historical (Various, from ancients to WW2) was fairly common, as were boardgames (though mostly in folks' homes outside the saturday). They tended to have a go at anything though, when I last was there was some Samruai game and sea battles in the pipeworks just as something different to try. I can put you in touch with Ivan, a mate of mine who still lives in Omagh and is a regular, if you can't contact them through the site.

If looking to start BB I know the two lads in Newtonstewart have been to the club a few times with me & Ivan (playing Mordheim one summer), but aren't regulars. (Would seem like a good venue if stuck for one for a league though). I'll likely be back in Omagh for the summer if I don't get a research internship so could bring folks together for a small league if not knowing each other is the sticking point.

*edit* Indeed Duce. I think when/if going for a domain and own hosted forum expanding things out to more than blood bowl could work well. After all most gamers don't play it exclusively and I have always been of the opinion NI, especially small local clubs without a big, or even existent at all, web presence could benefit from a central hub to bring folks together. Case in point here of a club existing but it may never be heard about by folks in the local area unless by sheer word of mouth chance.

It never seems to surprise me over here in NI that there seems to be little pockets of community scattered throughout the country, which is fantastic do youse guys know the Ulster wargaming society.
